The Piedmont Wildcat Cross Country teams had a great day at the Edmond Pre-State on Friday, October 6, 2017. The Piedmont boys varsity team was the 5A boys champion. Blake Cope finished 3rd overall to lead the boys. Paul Welch was 5th followed by Jadon Barker in 9th, Garrett Bickley in 10th, and Hunter Morgan finished 17th to score for the boy’s team. Gibson Barlow and Beckham Hartis both earned medals by finishing 22nd and 23rd respectively. The boys scored 44 points to runner-up Carl Albert’s 83.
The JV boys had 10 runners earn medals which were given to the top 30. Jacob Brightwell led the way by finishing 5th overall. Also medaling were Isaac Stovall (8), Ethan Hood (10), Fares Maarouf (11), Payton Brezina (18), Rhett Williams (19), Zac Stephenson (20), Mason Martinez (23), Ericcson McDermott (24), and Reagan Watters (30th).
Jayce Fallon led the girl’s team to a 6th place finish out of 15 teams. Jayce was 22nd. The other scorers for the girls’ team were Caroline McCown (33), Sydnei Storts (35), Ava Woolery (42), and Ariel Gray (46).
The JV girls had 7 runners earn medals. Sarah Christensen led the way by finishing 8th. Lindsey Halsted (16), Valerie Flores (17), and Maribel Velasco (20) all finished in the top 20. Yvie McCrary, Brenda Miller, and Isabel Lopez finished 27th, 29th, and 30th respectively.
Both the high school and middle school teams will compete in the Suburban Conference meet on Tuesday, October 10th. The varsity boys and girls will then finish the season with regionals on October 21st and the state meet on October 28th.
