The Piedmont High School cross country teams competed at the OK Runner Classic on Friday, September 22nd. The varsity boys squad were the meet champions. They outran a number of 6A schools and finished with 129 points, ten points ahead of Mustang. Blake Cope led the boys by finishing 6th overall in a time of 16:54 for the 5K race. Jadon Barker was the second Piedmont runner to cross the finish line in 18th place and a time of 17:26. Garrett Bickley (17:28) and Paul Welch (17:31) were right behind Barker in 19th and 20th place respectively. Jon Henry finished the scoring by finishing in 66th.
The JV boys also dominated their race. Jacob Brightwell won the boys JV race. Also medaling were Isaac Stovall 3rd, Matthew Farnsworth 5th, Gibson Barlow 6th, Ethan Hood 12th, Ericcson McDermott 13th, Fares Maarouf 15th, Payton Brezina 20th, and Mason Martinez 25th.
The varsity girls finished 13th out of 22 teams. Jayce Fallon was the first Piedmont girl across the finish line was Jayce Fallon in 39th place. Also scoring for Piedmont was Sydnei Storts, Caroline McCown, Ava Woolery, and Sarah Christensen.
The high school and middle school teams both compete next week at the Oklahoma State Jamboree in Stillwater.
